I'm Offended by This Beautiful Oilrig

Look at that monster out there, always giving me the middle finger. Ah but it is a beautiful thing, the oilrig.

[The beast and waves off Isla Vista]

Just think about the people working and living out there, in complete isolation, separated for months at a time. It can either be oddly serene or insanely constricting.

They're probably looking back at us every night wondering what we're doing, wondering what they're thinking, looking at us thinking about what we're thinking of them.

If you're anywhere along the cliffs of Del Playa, just look out at the islands and take a look to the right, you'll find the sucker. At night the beast is even more beautiful, with her lights lit up and flickering through the unstable atmosphere. Green lights, orange lights, who would think such a bastardization of the open sea can be so beautiful?

On another note, Venus was waning from above to the left of the oilrig and swooped just over it last night, cutting under the horizon, like a tetherball swinging around it's pole in its most reluctant mood.

I should be taking a few pictures of it tonight when it's lights are shining during sunset and Venus decides to show its face. Check back tonight after sundown.
